Referred to: The Economic Development, Tourism, Housing, Planning, and Transit
Committee (Chairman Briggs and Legislators Allen, Archer, Litts, Maio, Maloney
and Wishnick), and The Ways and Means Committee (Chairman Gerentine and
Legislators Bartels, Belfiglio, Briggs, Maio, Maloney, Provenzano and Rodriguez)
Chairman of the Economic Development, Tourism, Housing, Planning, and Transit
Committee, Thomas J. Briggs, and Deputy Chairman James F. Maloney offer the
following:
WHEREAS, the Ulster County Department of Public Transportation (UCAT)
has a grant opportunity through the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Bus and
Bus Facilities Program: Ladders of Opportunity; and
WHEREAS, funding from the grant would allow UCAT to purchase four (4)
30 foot, Low Floor Clean Diesel Cutaway Buses to replace four buses that are
currently in the fleet and have reached the end of their useful lives; and
WHEREAS, the cost to purchase the four buses is $1,100,000.00 which will
be borne at the following ratio: 80% Federal ($880,000.00), 10% New York State
($110,000.00) and 10% Ulster County ($110,000.00); now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Ulster County Legislature hereby supports a grant
application to the Federal Transit Administration’s Bus and Bus Facilities Program:
Ladders of Opportunity; and, be it further
RESOLVED, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to execute any
required applications or agreements, and any amendments to any documents, to
accept funding agreement with the Federal Transit Administration,
and move its adoption.
