Maloney, Provenzano and Rodriguez)

Chairman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Thomas J. Briggs,

and Deputy Chairman Kenneth Ronk offer the following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on

behalf of the Ulster County Department of Emergency Communications / Emergency

Management; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Emergency Communications/Emergency

Management was previously awarded a grant from the New York Division of

Homeland Security and Emergency Services in the amount of $978,000.00 for the

purpose of enhancing the interoperability of communications; and

WHEREAS, the purchase of a VHF high band paging system is planned and is

within the scope of the grant; and

WHEREAS, to date, the Department of Emergency

Communications/Emergency Management spent $0.00 of the $978,000.00 leaving an

unexpended balance of $978,000.00; and

WHEREAS, the unexpended balance was not included in the 2014 Ulster

County Budget, and a budget modification is necessary to appropriate the necessary

funds; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the 2014 Ulster County Budget is hereby amended as

follows:

AA-3020-1800-2300-2500 Other Equipment $978,000.00

RESOLVED, that if State and/or Federal funding for this program are

eliminated, this program will be eliminated as well,

and move its adoption.
