Referred to: The Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee (Chairman Briggs

and Legislators Gregorius, Loughran, Maio, and Ronk)

Chairman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Thomas J. Briggs,

and Deputy Chairman Kenneth J. Ronk offer the following:

 WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on

behalf of the Department of Emergency Communications / Emergency Management;

and

 WHEREAS, the Director of Emergency Communications / Emergency

Management has requested that the Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan

for Ulster County be approved and adopted; and

 WHEREAS, the Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan is the basic

and fundamental emergency planning document on which all other plans are built;

and

 WHEREAS, a diverse cross section of community representatives has met for

several months to review, modify and update Ulster County’s Comprehensive

Emergency Management Plan; and

 WHEREAS, the product of that work is a functional plan that accurately

describes the current methodology for handling emergencies; and

 WHEREAS, the existing Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan is

open to public view on the Ulster County web site where periodic comments are

received; now, therefore, be it

 RESOLVED, that the updated Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan

submitted to the Ulster County Legislature is hereby approved and adopted,

and move its adoption.
