Maloney, Provenzano and Rodriguez)

Chairman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Thomas J. Briggs,

and Deputy Chairman Kenneth J. Ronk offer the following:

WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 8 dated January 23, 2012, the

Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature executed an agreement, and any

amendments to the agreement, with the New York State Homeland Security and

Emergency Services for the Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Contract

(Contract No. C974110) in the amount of $112,216.00, for the period beginning

September 1, 2011 through August 31, 2014; and

WHEREAS, this contract is a Federally funded program to be administered by

the New York State Homeland Security and Emergency Services Agency and which

requires no matching County funds; and

WHEREAS, the goal of the State Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention

Program is to prevent, prepare for and recover from terrorist attacks; and

WHEREAS, to date, the Sheriff’s Office has spent $0.00 of the $112,216.00

leaving an unexpended balance of $ 112,216.00; and

WHEREAS, the Sheriff requests that the unexpended funds of $ 112,216.00

be appropriated and the 2014 Ulster County Budget be amended accordingly; and

WHEREAS, the remaining funds will be used for the purchase of

communication equipment and needed accessories to leverage the current equipment

for more efficient and more acute terrorism activity readiness; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the 2014 Ulster County Budget is hereby amended as

follows:
