Referred to: The Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee (Chairwoman Hansut and Legislators Clinton, Hewitt, Levine, Maloney, McCollough and Walls), and The Ways and Means Committee (Chairman Gavaris and Legislators Collins, Hansut, Kovacs, Nolan, Roberts, and Uchitelle)
Chairwoman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Gina Hansut, and Deputy Chair Chris Hewitt offer the following:
WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive on behalf of the Department of Probation; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Ulster County Department of Probation requests that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to execute a contract (NYS Contract C524357), with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) to receive funding in the amount of $803,272.00 for the Raise the Age grant, for the contract period April 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025; and
WHEREAS, the funds will be used exclusively for the Ulster County Probation Raise the Age program expenses, including but not limited to Probation staff salaries and fringe, Restorative Justice programming, Juvenile Accountability Board, transportation, electronic monitoring, supplies, and a portion of the debt service for the construction of the Restorative Justice Center; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to execute a contract, and any amendments thereto, with the New York State DCJS, in the form as filed with the clerk of the Ulster County Legislature, or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney,
and move its adoption.
