Legislator Greg McCollough offers the following:

 

WHEREAS, Opioid overdose reversal medications (OORMs) are lifesaving medications approved by the Food and Drug Administration to reverse an opioid overdose; and

 

WHEREAS, in 2018 the US Surgeon called for heightened awareness and availability of naloxone, a common and readily available OORM, to reverse the effects of opioid overdose; and

 

WHEREAS, it has been the standard practice of Ulster County to make naloxone available on county public transit; and

 

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Legislature desires that this practice be codified and continued in perpetuity; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that it shall be the policy of Ulster County that naloxone be available on all Ulster County public transit vehicles in quantities and types deemed by the County to be adequate to ensure ready and appropriate access for use during emergencies; and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, that Ulster County public transit operators and appropriate Ulster County Area Transit (UCAT) personnel be trained in the administration of naloxone,

             

and move its adoption.
