Chairwoman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Gina Hansut, and Deputy Chair Chris Hewitt offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the District Attorney; and

 

WHEREAS, the Ulster County District Attorney has been notified that the Office has been awarded funding through the Anti-Violence Initiative from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services in the amount of $100,000.00, for the purpose of funding community events intended to bolster relationships between law enforcement and the community and to create a paid student internship and mentorship program as part of the District Attorney’s “One Life Only” initiative that complements such Anti-Violence initiatives, in connection to DCJS Contract Nos. VI24104649 and Project No. VI24-1144-D00, the term of which expires December 31, 2025, and contract No. VI23104407 and Project No. VI24-1091-D00, the term of which expires April 1, 2026; and 

 

WHEREAS, the District Attorney has requested that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to execute these agreements, and any amendments thereto, in the amount of $50,000.00 each with the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services for the Anti-Violence Initiative Grant; now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to execute these agreements, and any amendments thereto, in the total amount of $100,000.00 with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Legislature, or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney; and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, that the 2025 County Budget shall be amended to fund the wages of interns in fiscal year 2025, a Youth Summit, and a Unity Hoops program as outlined in DCJS Contract Nos. VI24104649 and Project No. VI24-1144-D00, and contract No. VI23104407 and Project No. VI24-1091-D00; and, be it further

 

 

RESOLVED, that the 2025 Ulster County Budget is hereby amended as follows:
