Chairwoman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Gina Hansut, and Deputy Chair Chris Hewitt offer the following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive on behalf of the Department of Probation; and

WHEREAS, the Director of the Ulster County Department of Probation requests that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to execute a contract with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (“DCJS”) to receive funding in the amount of $740,127.00 for the Raise The Age grant for the term beginning on April 1, 2023 and ending on March 31, 2024; and

WHEREAS, the funds will be used exclusively for the Ulster County Probation Raise the Age Program expenses, including but not limited to Probation Staff salaries and fringe, Restorative Justice programming, Juvenile Accountability Board, transportation, and a portion of the debt service for the construction of the Restorative Justice Center; now, therefore, be it 

RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to execute a contract (NYS Comptroller’s #  C524299, Project #RT24-1012-D00) and any amendments thereto with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services for the Raise The Age grant in the amount of $740,127.00 for the term beginning on April 1, 2023 and ending on March 31, 2024, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney,

and move its adoption.
