Chairwoman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Gina Hansut, and Deputy Chair Chris Hewitt offer the following:  

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the Ulster County Sheriff; and

 

WHEREAS, there is a balance of $253,784.45 in the Corrections Telephone Account Reserve (1856); and

 

WHEREAS, funds can be used to benefit the inmates and benefit of the  correctional facility; and

 

WHEREAS, the officer’s cafeteria has not been updated since the building was established and needs repair; and

 

WHEREAS, funds of $136,922.00 are requested to be transferred into the 2024 Sheriff’s operating budget to cover expense of repairs and replacement of outdated and inoperable equipment to the officer cafeteria; and

 

WHEREAS, the purchase and installation of cafeteria equipment, including tables and chairs in the officer’s dining room will improve the provision of meal service to correctional employees; and 

 

WHEREAS, the Corrections Telephone Account Reserve is funds collected due to Incarcerated Individuals phone calls and has to be spent for the benefit of the Correctional Facility; and

 

WHEREAS, the Sheriff of Ulster County requests that $136,922.00 be transferred from the Reserve Account into the 2024 Operating Budget; now, therefore be it

 

 RESOLVED, that the 2024 Ulster County Budget is amended as follows:
