Chairman of the Economic Development, Tourism, Housing, Planning, and Transit Committee, Brian B. Cahill, and Deputy Chair Herbert Litts, III offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on behalf of the Department of Planning; and

 

WHEREAS, the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is currently seeking applications for developing county agricultural and farmland protection plans for which counties are eligible for grants up to $50,000 or 50% of the cost (whichever is less); and

 

            WHEREAS, the last agricultural and farmland protection plan for Ulster County was adopted in 1997 and is eligible for funding and has been recommended to be updated by the Ulster County Farmland Protection Board; and 

 

WHEREAS. the Ulster County Planning Department’s 2020 Adopted budget includes the required matching funds needed for the implementation of the grant if awarded; and

 

WHEREAS, the Application requires the submittal of the letter from the Chair of the Legislature, or his or her designee, authorizing the submittal of the application; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, the Ulster County Legislature hereby authorizes submittal of a grant application to update the Agricultural and Farmland Protection Plan for Ulster County; and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is authorized to submit letters, certifications, and other materials needed to satisfy the requirements of the grant application,

 

and moves its adoption.
