Legislator Kenneth Ronk offers the following:

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Legislature requested the State pass legislation

to amend the New York State General Municipal Law and Vehicle and Traffic Law

to authorize Ulster County to regulate the registration and licensing of taxicabs,

limousines and livery vehicles; and

 

WHEREAS, such legislation has now been introduced as Senate Bill No.

S5301 and Assembly Bill No. A7480 so that a formal Home Rule Request is now

appropriate; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the County Executive and the Clerk of the Ulster County

Legislature be authorized to execute and submit a Home Rule Request (Request by a

Local Government for Enactment of a Special Law), pursuant to Article IX of the

Constitution, requesting the enactment of Senate Bill No. S5301 and Assembly Bill

No. A7480 entitled “An act to amend the general municipal law and the vehicle and

traffic law, in relation to authorizing the County of Ulster to regulate the registration

and licensing of taxicabs, limousines, and livery vehicles,”

and moves its adoption.
