Committee David Donaldson, Deputy Chairman Mary Wawro, and Legislators Allen,

Archer, Bartels, Briggs, Greene, Gregorius, Loughran, J. Parete, R. Parete,

Provenzano, Rodriguez, and Wishnick offer the following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on

behalf of the Office for the Aging; and

WHEREAS, the County’s Meals on Wheels Program is an important outreach

effort to ensure that seniors receive proper nutrition; and

WHEREAS, there is an opportunity to enhance the Meals on Wheels Program

to provide additional services as well as increase the number of seniors served by the

program thereby eliminating a waiting list for the program; and

WHEREAS, the new “Meals on Wheels Plus” Program will offer seniors the

choice of a hot meal delivered daily or frozen meals delivered weekly for those who

are more active, daily monitoring visits of home-bound seniors by trained staff and

volunteers, improved activities and engagement at friendship centers, and enhanced

care coordination for the most vulnerable seniors; and

WHEREAS, the additional cost for providing seniors a choice between meal

options and frequency of delivery is $.09/frozen meal and $.04/hot meal; and

WHEREAS, in order to effectuate this change in programming a budget

modification is necessary; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the 2015 Ulster County Budget is hereby amended as

follows:

 INCREASE AMOUNT

AA.6772.2865- 4300.4370 Professional Services: Food $75,000.00

AA.6772.2865- 4300.4505 Other Fees for Professional Services $30,875.00

 

 DECREASE AMOUNT

AA.1990.1331-4600.4660 Contingency $105,875.00
