Chairman of the Health, Human Services and Human Rights Committee, Abe Uchitelle, and Deputy Chair Craig V. Lopez offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive on behalf of the Ulster County Department of Social Services; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Social Services has received notification from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) of an award of funding for a Mobile Child Advocacy Center (CAC) Unit; and

 

WHEREAS. providing a child-friendly setting where a coordinated response to child abuse allegations may be pursued in ways that support and protect children and their families supports the overall goal of reducing trauma for these families; and

 

WHEREAS, using a multi-disciplinary approach within the community through this mobile unit will provide a safe, child-friendly setting to conduct interviews, improve the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases, enhance interagency communication and cooperation, and provide the family with services while assisting them through the investigative and legal process; and

 

WHEREAS, the Commissioner of the Ulster County Department of Social Services requests that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to execute an agreement (NYS Contract # C030881) with the New York State Office of Children and Family Services to receive funding in the amount of $16,000.00 for the MDT CAC Mobile Unit for the contract period October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2030; and

 

          WHEREAS, no County contribution or matching funding is required; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to execute an agreement, and any amendments thereto, with New York State OCFS, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature, or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney,

 

 

and moves its adoption.
