The Laws and Rules, Governmental Services Committee (Chairwoman Bartels and Legislators Gavaris, Heppner, Roberts, and Ronk)

 

Chairwoman of the Laws and Rules, Governmental Services Committee, Tracey A. Bartels, offers the following:

 

            WHEREAS, Ulster County’s elected officials, including the County Executive, County Comptroller, County Clerk, Sheriff, District Attorney, members of the County Legislature, and all appointees of the aforementioned, and members of all Boards, Committees and Commissions, are stewards of the public interest and have a critical responsibility to shape the County’s public discourse; and

 

WHEREAS, the citizens and businesses of Ulster County are entitled to fair, ethical, accountable and effective local government; and

 

WHEREAS, to assure the proper and faithful execution of governmental responsibilities, all elected and appointed officials, while exercising their office, must conduct themselves in a manner that will instill public confidence and trust in the fair operation and integrity of Ulster County’s government; and

 

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Legislature has the authority and jurisdiction to promulgate a code of conduct for County officials; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that Ulster County Legislature adopts the Ulster County Code of Conduct For Elected and Appointed Officials,

 

and move its adoption.
