The Laws and Rules, Governmental Services Committee (Chairman Donaldson and Legislators Heppner, Roberts. Rodriguez, and Ronk), and The Ways and Means Committee (Chairwoman Archer and Legislators Gerentine, Maio, James Maloney, Joseph Maloney, Petit, and Rodriguez)
Chairman of the Laws and Rules, Governmental Services Committee, David B. Donaldson, offers the following:
WHEREAS, this resolution has been introduced at the request of the Ulster County Sheriff; and
WHEREAS, the Ulster County Sheriff is requesting authorization to apply for a United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Site-based Program Grant to cover various expenses to create a program to address opioid abuse in Ulster County; and
WHEREAS, the approval to apply for this grant will provide the Sheriff’s Office with an opportunity to alleviate most of the cost in creating such a program; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to apply for this grant by June 5, 2019, or risk losing this funding opportunity; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Ulster County Legislature hereby authorizes an application for a United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance Comprehensive Opioid Abuse Site-based Program Grant to support the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office Comprehensive Opioid Plan (UCCOP) as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature,
and move its adoption.
