NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

2024 ANNUAL AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT INCLUSIONS

 

A public hearing will be held on Ulster County’s 2024 Annual Agricultural District Inclusion Program on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 7:10 PM or as soon thereafter as the public may be heard in the Legislative Chambers, Ulster County Office Building, 244 Fair Street, Kingston, New York.

Annual Addition Process

Pursuant to Section 303-b of NYS Agriculture and Markets Law 25AA, the Ulster County Legislature is required to establish an annual Agricultural District enrollment period and to act on requests for inclusion of viable agricultural land within existing Certified Agricultural Districts.

 

Summary of Requests

Eleven applications for inclusion into existing Certified Agricultural Districts were received during the enrollment period from March 1 through March 30, 2024. These requests comprise 20 whole tax parcels totaling approximately 614 acres. These parcels are located in the Towns of Gardiner, Hurley, New Paltz, Olive, Plattekill, Rochester, Saugerties, Shawangunk and Woodstock.

 

Availability of Documents

A description of the process, information about the requests and the recommendation of the Ulster County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board (AFPB) may be viewed in the County Planning Department office and on the County Planning Department website at http://ulstercountyny.gov/planning/annual-agricultural-district-inclusions

 

Comment Submission

Citizens are invited to comment on the requests as well as the recommendation of the AFPB. Written comments will be accepted at the public hearing or by mail and email no later than 5:00 P.M. on June 18, 2024 and should be directed to:
