Debra Clinton is a fourth-generation Gardiner resident, lifelong educator, and current Ulster County Legislator representing District 16, which includes Gardiner and Plattekill. A graduate of SUNY New Paltz, Debra brings more than 30 years of experience in public education, having served schools in New Paltz, Ellenville, and Marlboro. Her career has given her a deep understanding of the challenges facing families and communities across Southern Ulster.

Since being elected in 2023, Debra has focused on delivering real results for her district and beyond. She has fought to expand affordable housing, improve emergency management and transportation services, strengthen food pantries, and protect the natural resources that make Ulster County special. She currently serves as Chair of Housing and Transportation and Chair of Law Enforcement and Public Safety, and is on the Economic Development committee, where she brings a practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving.

Deeply rooted in her community, Debra also volunteers extensively and consistently advocates for programs that strengthen families and improve quality of life. She believes in transparent, collaborative leadership that delivers sustainable solutions for Southern Ulster.

Debra and her husband, Jason, are proud to call Gardiner home, where they raised their two children, Josh and Lindsey, who are both in college. Debra will continue fighting for the people of Gardiner, Plattekill, and communities throughout Ulster County, ensuring that our local government remains fair, effective, and responsive to the people it serves.
