RESOLUTION TEXT +-
Referred to: The Laws and Rules, Governmental Services Committee (Chairman
Roberts and Legislators Donaldson, Haynes, Heppner, and James Maloney)
Legislator Hector Rodriguez offers the following:
WHEREAS, the current process utilized for submission of certain resolutions
allows for Chairs and Deputies of Standing Committees to be automatic sponsors of
said resolutions without any knowledge of resolution content prior to the time they
are officially filed; and
WHEREAS, Legislators who sponsor resolutions have a responsibility to fully
understand the legislation they are proposing; and
WHEREAS, the current submission process allows for a Legislator to be listed
as a sponsor of a measure they may oppose; and
WHEREAS, the current process additionally leaves little time for Legislators
to review resolutions prior to consideration in some Committees; and
WHEREAS, the Legislature believes it is possible to help alleviate these
concerns by modifying resolution deadline to be two days sooner; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that Rule 3. Resolutions, Local Laws, Rules For Procedure for
