Maio, Maloney and Richard Parete)

Legislator John Parete offers the following:

WHEREAS, the primary and most important responsibility of government is

to its people; and

WHEREAS, many Ulster County government offices and Departments,

including the Department of Motor Vehicles, the County Clerk and the Ulster County

Department of Finance are located in the Ulster County Office Building at 244 Fair

Street, Kingston; and

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Office Building is accessed by hundreds of

Ulster County residents each day; and

WHEREAS, there is a recognized shortage of public parking spaces at the

County Office Building and throughout Uptown Kingston; and

WHEREAS, Ulster County residents are hampered by the lack of parking

spaces at the Ulster County Office Building, reducing their access to government

offices and services; and

WHEREAS, there are currently two parking lots justly reserved for use by

Ulster County employees; and

WHEREAS, the County charges a fee to park in the public parking lot; now,

therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that a fee shall be charged for every parking space in the Public

Parking Lot accessible from Fair and Main Streets during the hours of 7:00 AM to

6:00 PM, Monday through Friday; and, be it further

RESOLVED, that no parking space in the Public Parking Lot shall be reserved

for any County employee,

and moves its adoption
