Referred to: The Economic Development, Tourism, Housing, Planning and Transit
Committee (Chairman Briggs and Legislators Allen, Archer, Litts, Maio, Maloney,
and Rodriguez), and The Ways and Means Committee (Chairman Gerentine and
Legislators Bartels, Belfiglio, Briggs, Maio, Maloney, Richard Parete, and
Rodriguez)
Chairman of the Economic Development, Tourism, Housing, Planning and Transit
Committee, Thomas J. Briggs, and Deputy Chairman James F. Maloney offer the
following:
WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive
on behalf of the Department of Public Transportation; and
WHEREAS, Ulster County Area Transit (UCAT) currently provides public
transit service that connects Ulster and Dutchess Counties, including service to the
MetroNorth Train Station (the LINK Route); and
WHEREAS, UCAT budgeted $240,000 for this service in the 2014 budget;
and
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Transportation has recently been notified
that the New York State Department of Transportation will reimburse Ulster County
for eligible costs associated with this route, not to exceed $270,000; and
WHEREAS, on January 3, 2014, the New York State Department of
Transportation awarded an additional $30,000.00 related to the LINK Route, which
requires amendment of the 2014 Ulster County Budget; and
WHEREAS, the Director of UCAT requests the Chairman of the Ulster
County Legislature be authorized to execute an agreement with the New York State
Department of Transportation (project ID#8823.24.126) for the term January 1, 2014
through December 31, 2014 in an amount not to exceed $270,000; now, therefore be

Transportation To Accept New York State Funds For Ulster And
Dutchess County Public Transit Service (LINK) – Department Of
Public Transportation (Ulster County Area Transit)
RESOLVED, that the 2014 Ulster County Budget be amended as follows:
INCREASE AMOUNT
A3-5901- 3590 State Aid, Public Transportation $30,000.00

A4-5901 – 4008 Auto Parts and Supplies $30,000.00
(App. #)
and, be it further
RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby
authorized to execute an agreement, and any amendments thereto, with the New York
State Department of Transportation to accept reimbursement for the operation of the
LINK service (Project ID# 8823.24.126) in an amount not to exceed $270,000, in
form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature or as modified with the
approval of the County Attorney,
and move its adoption.
