Chairman of the Public Health and Social Services Committee, Craig V. Lopez, and

Deputy Chairman Jeanette Provenzano offer the following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on

behalf of the Department of Social Services; and

WHEREAS, the Commissioner of the Ulster County Department of Social

Services requests that the 2014 Ulster County Budget be amended to accept two

federal grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development

totaling $503,328.00, for the Shelter Plus Care Programs which provide permanent

housing in the form of sponsor-based rental assistance, and ongoing support to

homeless individuals and families in Ulster County, including young adults, veterans,

ex-offenders, persons who are mentally ill/chemically dependent, persons living with

HIV/AIDS, persons who are mental disabled, and/or victims of domestic violence;

and

WHEREAS, the funds will be used for sponsor-based rental assistance of 48

units, comprised of 33 units of single-room occupancy for individuals and 15 units

for families, as part of the Shelter Plus Care Programs; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the 2014 Ulster County Budget is hereby amended as

follows:

RESOLVED, if funding for this program is eliminated, the program will be

eliminated as well,
