Chairman of the Legislative Programs, Education and Community Services

Committee, David B. Donaldson, and Deputy Chairman Mary Wawro offer the

following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on

behalf of the Office for the Aging; and

WHEREAS, according to the 2010 census, Ulster County’s population of

residents aged 60 years and over increased to 39,054 (21.4%) of individuals

compared to the previous census; and

WHEREAS, the New York State Office for the Aging allocates funds to the

various New York counties based on their respective populations of residents aged 60

and over; and

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Office for the Aging has been notified that the

County’s allocation has been increased by $66,071.00 due to the increase in its senior

population; and

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Office for the Aging is also permitted to

carryover $34,268.00 in funds previously allocated in 2013 but are unspent; and

WHEREAS, the required County match is $22,622.00 which will be funded

through current Departmental budgetary savings; and

WHEREAS, the Director of the Ulster County Office for the Aging requests

that the 2014 Ulster County budget be amended in order to utilize this additional

funding and provide additional services to Ulster County’s seniors; now, therefore,

RESOLVED, that the 2014 Ulster County budget is hereby amended as

follows:
