Members of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Legislators Maio

and Ronk, offer the following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on

behalf of the Department of Probation, Ulster County STOP-DWI Program; and

WHEREAS, the Director of Ulster County Department of Probation has

requested that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to

execute a contract (NYS Contract No. C523700), and any amendments thereto, with

the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services for the period October 1,

2013 through September 30, 2014 in the amount of $55,215.00; and

WHEREAS, these funds will be used for the Governor’s Traffic Safety

Committee (GTSC) Ignition Interlock Device Monitoring Program (the “Program”)

to allow Ulster County STOP-DWI, a division of the Ulster County Probation

Department, to offset the cost of administering the Program, which promotes and

increases community safety; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature be

authorized to execute a contract (NYS Contract No. C523700), and any amendments

thereto, with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services for the GTSC

Ignition Interlock Device Monitoring Program for the period October 1, 2013

through September 30, 2014 in the amount of $55,215.00, in the form as filed with

the Clerk of the Legislature, or as modified with the approval of the County

Attorney; and, be it further

RESOLVED, if State funding for this program is eliminated, the County’s

participation will be reviewed by the Ways and Means Committee,

and moves its adoption.
