Chairman of the Health, Human Services and Human Rights Committee, Abe Uchitelle, and Deputy Chair Craig V. Lopez offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive on behalf of the Department of Health (DOH); and

 

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Department of Health wishes to obtain and utilize mortality surveillance data to assist in understanding the primary risk factors for the key causes of death of Ulster County residents; and

 

WHEREAS, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene maintains mortality surveillance data and requires a Data Use Agreement to access; and  

 

WHEREAS, this agreement defines the terms and conditions of the data release, as well as emphasizing the sensitivity of the Department data; and

 

WHEREAS, agreement will be in effect for no more than three years and one month and bears no cost; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to execute an agreement and any future amendments thereto, for the period of August 6, 2025 through August 31, 2028 with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to grant access to mortality surveillance data,

 

and moves its adoption.
