Chairman of the Health, Human Services and Housing Committee, Abe Uchitelle, and Deputy Chair Craig Lopez offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive on behalf of the Department of Social Services; and

 

WHEREAS, the Commissioner of the Department of Social Services requests that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to enter into an Agreement with the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) to receive funding for the Day Care Registration and Inspection Program; and

 

WHEREAS, this Program provides funding for processing (1) initial day-care facility registration applications; (2) renewals of existing registrations; (3) complaint investigations; (4) safety assessments; (5) quarterly, mid-point, and annual inspections; and (6) on-site case and management review; and

 

WHEREAS, no County contribution or matching funding is required; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to enter into an Agreement and any amendments thereto with the New York State OCFS to for the Day Care Registration and Inspection Program, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney; and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, that if funding for this program is eliminated, the Budget Director shall, immediately upon discovery, send written notification to the Clerk of the Legislature, and the relevant Department Head shall attend the next regular meeting of the Ways and Means Committee to assist the Committee in review and evaluation for determination of the program’s continuance,       

 

and moves its adoption.
