Chairwoman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Gina Hansut, and Deputy Chair Chris Hewitt offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the Ulster County District Attorney; and

 

WHEREAS, the Gun Involved Violence Elimination (“GIVE”) Initiative is provides state funding to local law enforcement agencies for equipment, overtime, personnel, and provides comprehensive, focused training and technical assistance to those agencies and is a key component of New York State's comprehensive plan to reduce shootings and firearm-related violent crime, including homicides, in communities outside of New York City; and includes the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, Ulster County Probation Department; and

 

WHEREAS, Ulster County District Attorney’s Office (contract# C484104) has  requested that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to enter into an agreement with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice for the purpose of participating in a twelve-month joint county crime reduction program from July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025, designated as the GIVE Initiative; now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to execute all contracts, and any related amendments thereto, with the Division of Criminal Justice Services for the purpose of Ulster County’s participation in the GIVE Initiative Grant in the amount of  $95,933.00 for the term July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature, or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney,     

 

and moves its adoption.
