Chair of the Legislature, Peter Criswell, offers the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive; and    

 

WHEREAS, on July 5, 2024, the Ulster County pool was closed due to prolonged loss of water resulting from unforeseen maintenance issues; and

 

WHEREAS, due to the pool closure, the City of Kingston has experienced an increase in the number of individuals seeking access to the City of Kingston pool; and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Kingston has expressed a need for additional lifeguards to ensure appropriate staffing levels at the City of Kingston pool based on the increased attendance rates and to increase the operating capacity of the pool; and

 

WHEREAS, Ulster County currently employs seventeen (17) lifeguards and twelve (12) pool attendants at the Ulster County pool, located at 241 Libertyville Rd. in the Town of New Paltz; and

 

WHEREAS, due to the unforeseen closure of the Ulster County pool, such lifeguard services are no longer needed at the Ulster County pool in the Town of New Paltz, New York; and

 

WHEREAS, to increase the operating capacity of the City of Kingston pool and ensure appropriate staffing due to increased attendance rates, Ulster County wishes to enter into an inter-municipal agreement with the City of Kingston to provide lifeguard and pool attendant services to the City of Kingston; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to enter into an inter-municipal agreement with the City of Kingston to provide lifeguard and pool attendant services in order to meet their staffing needs at the City of Kingston pool,

 

and moves its adoption.
