Chairwoman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Gina Hansut, and Deputy Chair Chris Hewitt offer the following:  

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive on behalf of the Department of Probation; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Probation has notified Ulster County that funding for the 2024 – 2027 Department of Justice, Office of Violence Against Women (OVW) - Rural Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking Program (O-OVW-2027-171933) is available in the amount not to exceed $500,000.00; and

 

WHEREAS, if awarded, the Department of Probation’s Crime Victim Assistance Program would utilize the OVW Rural Program grant funds to create a multidisciplinary team to provide prevention education, victim advocacy, increased accessibility to sexual assault forensic exams, and direct support services to victims of Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking in rural areas of Ulster County as defined by the 2020 United States Census Tract guidelines; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Probation’s Crime Victim Assistance Program would develop Memoranda of Understanding with multiple agencies, including but not limited to the Office of the Ulster County District Attorney, Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Police Agencies, and School Districts to implement the aforementioned services; and

 

WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Probation requests the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to execute the OVW Rural Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking Program application with the required assurances, and any amendments thereto, for the term beginning October 1, 2024 and ending September 30, 2027; now therefore, be it

 

 

 

 

 

RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to execute the application with required assurances, and any amendments thereto with the Department of Justice for the Office of Violence Against Women, Rural Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking Program for the term beginning October 1, 2024 and ending September 30, 2027, in the form filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney,     

 

and moves its adoption.
