Chairman of the Laws, Rules and Government Services Committee, Jonathan R. Heppner, and Deputy Chair Kevin A. Roberts offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Board of Elections received an Absentee Ballot Pre-Paid Postage Grant in the amount of $44,465.65 in 2022; and

 

WHEREAS, the New York State Board of Elections has amended the term of this grant program from 12/31/2022 to 12/31/2023 and added $44,465.65 in additional funds to be used for eligible postage and printing expenses; and

 

WHEREAS, in 2023 the Ulster County Board of Elections will incur additional expenses to purchase pre-paid envelopes and postage, an eligible expense under the Pre-Paid Postage Grant program; and  

 

RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to sign an amended grant agreement in the amount of $44,465.65, and amendments thereto, with the NYS Board of Elections to obtain additional Pre-Paid Postage Grant Program funds to offset eligible expenses during the 2023 June and November elections, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature, or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney,         

 

and moves its adoption.
