Chairwoman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Gina Hansut, and Deputy Chair Chris Hewitt offer the following:

          WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the Ulster County Sheriff; and

WHEREAS, the 2023-2028 Capital Program includes the cost of the acquisition of a Bearcat G3; and

WHEREAS, the Bearcat G3 will replace MRAP, and the MRAP will be returned under the 1030 program as it is not owned by the County and current cost of maintenance has totaled $90,000.00 to date; and

WHEREAS, the Bearcat G3 will be used in critical incident situations requiring an armored vehicle to safely transport personnel to the crisis scene and/or rescue people from it; and

WHEREAS, a Bearcat G3 would be covered under warranty, more reliable and better suited based on its size and weight; and

WHEREAS, the Bearcat G3 quote has come in at $324,601.00 custom built for Sheriff’s Office needs plus a 10% contingency of $32,460.00; and

WHEREAS, the Adopted 2023-2028 Capital Improvement Program includes the amount of $325,000.00 for purchase of the Bearcat G3; and

WHEREAS, the Sheriff of Ulster County requests that Capital Project No. 670 be established and funded in the amount of $ 357,061.00; now, therefore be it

 RESOLVED, that the 2023-2028 Ulster County Capital Improvement Program is amended as follows:

and, be it further

RESOLVED, that Capital Project No. 670 for the UCSO Bearcat G3 purchase be established as follows:
