Chairwoman of the Public Works, Capital Projects and Transportation Committee, Laura Petit, and Deputy Chair Dean J. Fabiano, offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive on behalf of the Department of Public Works; and

 

WHEREAS, the superstructure of a bridge is a primary structural element for all bridges; and

 

WHEREAS a bridge preservation approach to make repairs to the bridge superstructure will extend the life of the bridge; and

 

WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Works has identified five bridges for the 2023 Bridge Superstructure Repairs project; and

 

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Commissioner of Public Works requests funds for evaluation and designof the Watson Hollow Bridge in the Town of Olive (BIN 3346370), High Falls Bridge in the Town of Denning (BIN 3025130), Coxing Bridge in the Town of Rosendale (BIN 3347040) Saugerties Reservoir Bridge in the Town of Saugerties (BIN 3347790) and Tuttletown Bridge in the Town of Gardiner (BIN 3346640); and

 

WHEREAS the Ulster County Department of Public Works intends to contract with an outside agency for the evaluation and design of superstructure repairs for the bridges; and

 

WHEREAS, based upon examination by the Ulster County Legislature, the County’s funding of this Project constitutes a Type II action as defined under Section 4.5.5 of the County of Ulster’s State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) Type II List, which was adopted pursuant to Resolution No. 118 dated April 20, 2010; and

 

WHEREAS, Ulster County has determined that this funding action does not pose a significant potential environmental impact and may be progressed as a Type II action in accordance with 6 NYCRR Part 617 of SEQRA, and does not require any further determination or procedure under SEQRA; and

 

WHEREAS the Commissioner of Public Works requests that Capital Project No. 661 be established to fund design services in the amount of $65,000.00; and

 

WHEREAS the Commissioner of Public Works requests that Capital Project No. 661 be established for the evaluation and design of superstructure repairs, and include construction inspection services during the construction phase at a later date; now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that the 2023-2028 Ulster County Capital Improvement Program is amended as follows:

and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, that Capital Project No. 661 – Bridge Superstructure Repairs is hereby established as follows:
