Chairwoman of the Energy, Environment and Sustainability Committee, Manna Jo Greene, and Deputy Chair Gina Hansut offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the Acting County Executive on behalf of the Department of the Environment; and

 

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Legislature has Enacted Local Law No. 9 of 2015; A Local Law Establishing a Sustainable Green Fleet Policy; and

 

WHEREAS, said law establishes the policy of the County “to purchase …the most energy efficient and cost effective vehicles possible”; and

 

WHEREAS, the law further states “…Ulster County is committed to using electric, hybrid-electric, hybrid and sustainable green vehicles across the fleet”; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of the Environment, in consultation with the Ulster County Department of Public Works and in response to a rebate/grant program issued by NYSDEC for the 2022 Municipal ZEV Rebate Program, applied for and was awarded rebates totaling $22,500 for the purchase of fleet electric vehicles; and

 

WHEREAS, three qualifying vehicles were purchased; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of the Environment requests that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to enter into an agreement (DEC01-T01428GG-3350000) with NYSDEC for the 2022 Municipal ZEV Rebate Program in the amount of $22,500; now, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to execute the agreement with the New York State Department of Conservation (DEC01-T01428GG-3350000), for the purpose of accepting the rebates totaling $22,500 for the purchase of fleet electric vehicles,

 

and moves its adoption.
