Chairman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Abe Uchitelle, and Deputy Chair Gina Hansut offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive on behalf of the Department of Probation; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Probation administers the Crime Victims Assistance Program (CVAP), which aids victims and witnesses of crime; and

 

WHEREAS, the department has received a grant from the New York State Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NYCASA) (a private, non-profit coalition of community-based rape crisis programs located throughout New York State) for the Sexual Assault Services Program (SASP); and

 

WHEREAS, the grant is an annual, non-competitive award of $9,485.56 for the period July 1, 2022- June 30, 2023; and

 

WHEREAS, the purpose of the funding is to support sexual assault programs in providing sustainable and culturally appropriate services for victims / survivors of sexual assault; and

 

WHEREAS, CVAP will utilize the grant to partially fund the salary of a Crime Victim Counselor / Educator currently providing sexual assault prevention, education, and intervention services; and

 

WHEREAS, the Probation Director requests the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to execute the New York State Coalition Against Sexual Assault, with required assurances, and any amendments thereto; now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby authorized to execute the grant, and any amendments thereto, with the New York State Coalition Against Sexual Assault, for the term beginning July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney,

 

and move its adoption.
