Legislator Kenneth Ronk, Jr. and Legislator Eve Walter offer the following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the Ulster County Sheriff; and

WHEREAS,the Ulster County Department of Health and the Sheriff’s Office have received award notification from the Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance for the Grant-Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Abuse Site-based Program (COSSAP), in the amount of $900,000.00, to provide financial and technical assistance to local government in effort to identify, respond to, treat and support those impacted by illicit opioids, stimulants and other drugs of abuse; and

WHEREAS, the awarded funds are to be used over a 3-year term; and

WHEREAS, the Sheriff has requested that the Chair be authorized to accept and execute the award and contract provided by the Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance for the Grant-Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Abuse Site-based Program (COSSAP); and

WHEREAS, in order to reflect the increased funding, an amendment of the 2020 budget is necessary; and

WHEREAS, there is no increase in County contribution as a result of these modifications; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, that the Chair of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby  authorized to accept and sign the award and contract provided by the Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance for the Grant-Comprehensive Opioid, Stimulant, and Substance Abuse Site-based Program (COSSAP) intheformasfiledwiththeClerkoftheUlster CountyLegislatureormodifiedwiththeapprovaloftheCountyAttorney and Legislative Counsel; and, be it further

RESOLVED, that the 2020 County Budget is hereby amended as follows:
