Chairman of the Economic Development, Tourism, Housing, Planning, and Transit Committee, Brian B. Cahill, and Deputy Chair Herbert Litts, III offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this Resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on behalf of Ulster County Area Transit (UCAT); and

 

WHEREAS, Ulster County is a designated recipient of funding through the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Rural Transportation Assistance Program-Section 5311(b)(3), which was awarded by the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) on July 20, 2020; and

 

WHEREAS, funding from this grant would allow UCAT to purchase five (5) buses for its fleet to replace buses in UCAT’s fleet that will reach the end of their useful lives; and

 

            WHEREAS, the cost to purchase the bus will be borne up to the following ratio: 80% Federal Share ($1,181,074), 10% New York Share ($159,009) and 10% Ulster County Share ($159,009);

 

WHEREAS, UCAT will apply to NYSDOT’s Accelerated Transit Capital Program in order to offset the $159,009 County Share by way of Resolution 390 of 2020, therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, that the Ulster County Legislature hereby supports a grant application to the FTA for Rural Transportation Assistance Program-Section 5311(b)(3); and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to execute any required applications or agreements, and any amendments to any documents, to accept the funding agreement with the FTA,

                         

 

and move its adoption.
