Chairwoman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Mary Beth

Maio, and Deputy Chair Julius Collins offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the Ulster County Sheriff;

and

WHEREAS, Resolution 360 dated September 19, 2017 authorized the

Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature to enter into an agreement (C974170),

and any amendments to the agreement, with the New York State Division of

Homeland Security and Emergency Services for the contract period from September

1, 2017 through August 31, 2020, in the amount of $269,921.00; and

WHEREAS, of such $269,921.00 in total funding, $67,480.00 was allocated

to the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office for the purchase of computer equipment; and

WHEREAS, these funds are part of the FY17 State Homeland Security

Program (SHSP); and

WHEREAS, this funding originates from the United States Department of

Homeland Security and passes through New York State via the State Homeland

Security Program; and

WHEREAS, the State Homeland Security Program supports planning,

equipment, training, and exercise needs associated with preparedness and prevention

activities for terrorist events using weapons of mass destruction involving biological,

nuclear, incendiary, chemical, explosive and radiological materials, and

WHEREAS, the grant requires no matching County dollars; and

WHEREAS, during the year 2017, the Sheriff’s Office spent $00.00 of the

$67,480.00 leaving an unexpended balance of $67,480.00; and

WHEREAS, the Sheriff requests that the unexpended funds of $67,480.00 be

appropriated and the 2018 Ulster County Budget be amended accordingly; and 

 

WHEREAS, the remaining funds will be used to purchase communication and

computer equipment; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the 2018 Ulster County Budget is hereby amended as

follows:

 INCREASE AMOUNT

AA.3110.1811.2200.2200 Comp Equipment $67,480.00

RESOLVED, that if the funding for this program is eliminated, the program

will be eliminated as well,

and move its adoption.
