Chairman of the Legislative Programs, Education and Community Services

Committee, David B. Donaldson, and Deputy Chair Heidi Haynes, offer the

following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the County Executive on

behalf of the Ulster County Office for the Aging; and

WHEREAS, the New York State Office for the Aging has notified Ulster

County of an allocation of $5,100.00 for the Aging Mastery Program; and

WHEREAS, the goal of the National Council on Aging’s Aging Mastery

Program (AMP) is an innovative approach to living that embraces the gift of longer

lives. The program combines courses with expert speakers, group discussion, goalsetting, and small rewards to help older adults gain the skills and tools they need to

manage their health, remain economically secure, and contribute actively in society;

and

WHEREAS, the term for this grant is August 1, 2018 through July 31, 2019;

and

WHEREAS, the funds will be used to purchase the Aging Mastery Program

curriculum for both instructor and students; and

WHEREAS, the Director of the Office for the Aging requests the Chairman of

the Ulster County Legislature be authorized to execute this grant application for

funding with required assurances, and any amendments thereto, on behalf of the

Ulster County Office for the Aging now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby

authorized to execute an agreement with the New York State Office for the Ageing

and any amendments thereto, for the Aging Mastery Program for the term beginning

August 1, 2018 through July 31, 2019, in the form as filed with the Clerk of the

Ulster County Legislature or as modified with the approval of the County Attorney;

and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, that if funding for this program is eliminated, the program will

be eliminated as well,

and move its adoption.
