James Maloney, Joseph Maloney, and Petit)

Chairwoman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Mary Beth

Maio, and Deputy Chair Julius Collins offer the following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted by the Ulster County Sheriff’s

Office; and

WHEREAS, the Rondout Valley Central School District has requested two

Deputy Sheriffs be assigned as School Resource Officer (SRO’s) at locations as

requested by the District; and

 WHEREAS, Rondout Valley School District will pay Ulster County an

amount not less than $191,275.87 for the services of two existing fulltime Deputy

Sheriffs assigned as the School Resource Officers; and

WHEREAS, the term of the agreement shall be September 1, 2018 through

June 30, 2019; now, therefore, be it

 RESOLVED, that the Chairman of the Ulster County Legislature is hereby

authorized to sign an agreement, and any amendments thereto, with the Rondout

Valley Central School District to provide two Deputy Sheriffs to serve as a School

Resource Officers for the term September 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019, in the form

as filed with the Clerk of the Ulster County Legislature or as modified with the

approval of the County Attorney in consultation with the Chairman of the Legislature

and the Chair and Deputy Chair of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety

Committee; and, be it further

RESOLVED, that if funding for this program is eliminated, the

program/positions will be eliminated as well,

and moves its adoption.
