Legislators Tracey A. Bartels and Kathy Nolan, and Legislators Maloney (Joseph),

Wawro, and Woltman offer the following:

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 70 dated March 20, 2018, set the date for the

Public Hearing on Proposed Local Law No. 7 of 2018 (A Local Law To Reduce

Addiction To Tobacco Products By Raising The Minimum Age For Their Purchase

To 21), to be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 6:15 PM in the Legislative

Chambers, Ulster County Office Building, 244 Fair Street, Kingston, New York; and

WHEREAS, said Public Hearing was held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 6:15

PM in the Legislative Chambers, Ulster County Office Building, 244 Fair Street,

Kingston, New York; and

 

WHEREAS, said Public Hearing was advertised in the official newspapers of

the County of Ulster, and posted on the signboard maintained by the Clerk of the

Legislature situated in the Ulster County Office Building; and

 WHEREAS, all parties in attendance were permitted an opportunity to speak

on behalf of or in opposition to said Proposed Local Law; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that herein, Proposed Local Law No. 7 of 2018 is hereby

adopted by the Ulster County Legislature, and, pending the approval of the County

Executive, will be assigned a local law number consecutive to the last local law

adopted and approved in 2018,

 

and move its adoption.

ADOPTED AS AMENDED BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE:

AYES: 19 NOES: 3

(Noes: Legislators Fabiano, Lopez, and Maio)

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

$600.00 – APPROXIMATE ADVERTISING COSTS

Legislator Nolan motioned, seconded by Legislator Donaldson, to amend Section 3.

Prohibited Acts. (B) of Proposed Local Law No. 7 to include a new subsection (c) to

read as follows, “an identification card issued by the armed forces of the United

States, indicating that the individual is at least twenty-one years of age.”
