Legislator Peter Loughran offers the following:

 

WHEREAS, Ulster County Legislators are considered part-time employees;

and

WHEREAS, many Legislators hold “day jobs” to provide a primary source of

income; and

WHEREAS, Standing Committee Meetings of the Ulster County Legislature

have historically been held in the evening hours to accommodate work schedules;

and

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Legislature strives to be a leader in

transparency and encourages maximum participation in the legislative process; now,

therefore be it

RESOLVED, it is the policy of the Ulster County Legislature that all Regular

Meetings of Ulster County Legislative Standing Committees shall start at 6:00 PM or

later to encourage the broadest participation from Legislators and the public alike,

and move its adoption.
