Chairman of the Public Works & Capital Projects Committee, Dean J. Fabiano,

Deputy Chairman Peter M. Loughran, and Legislators Ronk and Wishnick offer the

following:

WHEREAS, the County Executive has established an Infrastructure

Investment Program known as “Building a Better Ulster County” to begin addressing

critical road and bridge improvements at the County level; and

WHEREAS, this program will restore and improve the County’s aging

infrastructure and will be in addition to the County’s core capital program; and

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Acting Commissioner of Public Works

requests funds for rehabilitation of the Wallkill Bridge (Ulster County Bridge No.

#127) on Bruyn Turnpike, over the Wallkill River in the Town of Shawangunk

(BIN# 3347320); and

WHEREAS, the Wallkill Bridge is in need of steel rail replacement and

concrete repair and it is now necessary to request funds for rehabilitation; and

WHEREAS, it is now necessary to fund Capital Project No. 439 in the amount

of $950,000.00; and

WHEREAS, the Acting Commissioner of Public Works requests that the 2015

– 2020 Capital Program be amended to establish Capital Project No. 439, and funded

in the amount of $950,000.00 in order to make the necessary repairs; and

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Department of Public intends to contract with

outside contractors for both the inspection and the rehabilitation of the Wallkill

Bridge; and

WHEREAS, based upon examination by the Ulster County Legislature, the

County’s funding of this Project constitutes a Type II action as defined under

Sections 4.5.5 of the County of Ulster’s State Environmental Quality Review Act

(SEQRA) Type II List, which was adopted pursuant to Resolution No. 118 dated

April 20, 2010; and

 

WHEREAS, Ulster County has determined that this funding action does not

pose a significant potential environmental impact and may be progressed as a Type II

action in accordance with 6 NYCRR Part 617 of SEQRA, and does not require any

further determination or procedure under SEQRA; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that Capital Project No. 439 “Building a Better Ulster County”

Infrastructure Investment Program, Rehabilitation of the Wallkill Bridge is hereby

established as follows:

Capital Project No. 439 Wallkill Bridge #127

Town of Shawangunk $950,000.00

and, be it further

RESOLVED, that the 2015 Capital Fund Budget be amended as follows:
