Legislators Tracey A. Bartels and Manna Jo Greene, and Legislator Loughran offer

the following:

WHEREAS, the operation and maintenance of the County vehicle fleet is

essential to the ability to provide a wide range of services to the public; however, the

fleet represents a significant environmental and financial cost to Ulster County; and

WHEREAS, Ulster County has become a leader in environmental stewardship

and the County Legislature desires to continue being environmentally conscientious

and chooses to lead by example; and

WHEREAS, in addition to the environmental impacts inherent is a green fleet,

the Ulster County Legislature also recognizes the potential fiscal benefits by

decreasing traditional fuel use; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the Ulster County Legislature hereby establishes and adopts

the “Ulster County Green Fleet Policy” attached hereto as Exhibit A,

and move its adoption.
