Chairman of the Public Works and Capital Projects Committee, Dean J. Fabiano,

and Deputy Chairman Peter M. Loughran offer the following:

WHEREAS, it is estimated that the Ulster County Department of Public

Works will need approximately $1,100,000 for sand, salt and chloride for winterizing

County Roads during the year 2015; and

WHEREAS, there is $825,000 currently budgeted for these materials for the

year, and an additional amount of $275,000 is projected to be needed; and

WHEREAS, while the county’s usage of salt has remained stable for the past

three years, the cost of salt has escalated by 27% from the prior year; and

WHEREAS, in order to purchase the necessary amount of salt in order to

winterize County Roads during the 2015 year, a budget modification is necessary;

now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that the 2015 Ulster County Budget is hereby amended as

follows:

INCREASE AMOUNT

AA.9901.4600-9000.9015 Interfund Transfers to County Road Fund $275,000.00

DD.5142.5142-4100.4140 Road/Highway Materials Salt & Sand: $275,000.00
