Gregorius, Maio, Maloney and Richard Parete)

Legislator Richard Parete offers the following:

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Sheriff has a cash on hand fund for the

purpose of purchase of services for confidential investigations for URGENT

operations; and

WHEREAS, the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office is the lead agency in a

multijurisdictional drug and gang task force that is a combined effort of several

agencies; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 371 of the County Law, the petty cash fund/

cash on hand was established; and

WHEREAS, by previous resolution the Legislature authorized a cash account

limit of $13,000.00; and

WHEREAS, since that time the Sheriff has taken in an amount over

$13,000.00; and

WHEREAS, in order to establish an accurate and sufficient cash account to

serve the purposes of law enforcement in the best interest of Ulster County, and to

correctly establish the number and amount of such funds within the County’s

financial system, the Ulster County Sheriff requests an increase of the cash account

to $33,000; and

WHEREAS, the undersheriff is designated as the official responsible for the

cash on hand funds totaling $33,000; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, the Commissioner of Finance is authorized to increase the

URGENT petty cash account by $20,000.00 as follows:

INCREASE AMOUNT

AA-0210.0091 URGENT Petty Cash $20,000.00

and moves its adoption.
