Richard A. Parete is a seven term Legislator who has earned a reputation as the taxpayer’s watchdog.  After first being elected in 2002, Rich began the investigation of irregularities in the construction of the Ulster County Jail.  Since that time, Rich has worked tirelessly to insure that all Ulster County projects and programs are open and efficiently managed.

While not a typical legislation author, Rich makes people answer the questions that they do not necessarily want to have to answer.  He is an advocate for common sense and responsible government.   Rich is a strong proponent of Roberts Rules of Order and will often help keep the body on task and in compliance with it’s rules.  A perfect fit for the Chair of the Laws & Rules, Governmental Services Committee.

Rich works as a Verizon field technician and spends much of his time in and around Ulster County.  Rich is a member of the Marbletown Sportsman’s Club and the Rondout Little League board, a Rondout Valley youth football coach, and a member of the Catskill Watershed Coalition Executive Board.

Rich is a 1985 graduate of  Rondout Valley High School and a Syracuse University graduate.  Rich returned to Rondout Valley to continue the family tradition of coaching the youth wrestling teams. Rich appreciates the life lessons sports offers to these promising young athletes.

Rich and his wife, Colleen, have a home in Accord where they live with their son.  They all enjoy an active schedule and are always on the go with many school, community, and family activities.
