(KINGSTON, NY) – Ulster County Legislators David B. Donaldson and John R. Parete encourage all eligible residents to apply for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) as soon as possible. Donaldson and Parete believe that the program is under advertised and underutilized in Ulster County.
“Don’t let this pretty mild winter fool you,” Legislator Donaldson cautioned. “Harsh winter weather and temperatures can sneak up on us quickly. And for families on tight budgets, the amount of oil in the tank can easily be put out of mind. We just want everyone to know that help is out there,” he continued.

“No one should ever have to choose between food on their table or heat in their house. If you qualify you should apply. Even if you don’t qualify, call the number below. There may be other assistance you could receive.” Legislator John Parete said.
