Chairwoman of the Law Enforcement and Public Safety Committee, Gina Hansut, and Deputy Chair Chris Hewitt offer the following:

WHEREAS, this resolution has been submitted at the request of the County Executive on behalf of the Ulster County District Attorney; and

          WHEREAS, the District Attorney advises that due to recent changes in personnel, a realignment in personnel salary structure is necessary to align current job responsibilities and experience to enable the DA’s office to more effectively meet the needs of the office, serve the public, and protect the safety of the community; and 

WHEREAS, such realignment results in reductions in the hourly rate to the following positions, 1165-1208 – Assistant District Attorney in the amount of $4.00, position 1165-1456 – Discovery and Records Unit Chief in the amount of $3.31, and 1165-1439  - Chief Investigator in the amount of $11.96; and 

WHEREAS, an increase in salary structure is necessary to reflect that certain assistant district attorneys’ salaries are wholly out of keeping with the scope of their responsibilities and experience and to ensure the positions’ compensation is commensurate with the responsibilities of these roles; and 

WHEREAS, the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office will increase the salary for position numbers and titles 1165-1425 – Assistant District Attorney in the amount of $2.89, 1165-1205 -  Assistant District Attorney in the amount of $2.89, 1165-1426 – Assistant District Attorney in the amount of $3.89, 1165-1457 – Assistant District Attorney in the amount of $3.89, 1165-1204 – Assistant District Attorney in the amount of $2.00, for the 2024 Budget year; and 

 WHEREAS, these adjustments result in a net salary savings of $7,865.00 and a net benefits savings of $601.66 resulting in total savings of $8,466.46; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary to amend the 2024 County Personnel Listing to adjust the salary lines for the affected positions, now therefore, be it
