Legislators Phil Erner and Laura Petit offer the following:

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Transportation, operator of Ulster County Area Transit, has as its mission to provide quality public transportation to the residents of Ulster County in a safe, reliable, and cost-effective manner; and

 

WHEREAS, effective fixed-route transportation service requires sufficiently regular and frequent runs; and

 

WHEREAS, service breaks interrupt and impede the public’s right to travel; now, therefore be it

 

RESOLVED, that UCAT should propose for the 2024 budget and into the future a plan for how it will operate all fixed-route bus service continuously throughout their daily service hours without planned service breaks, and at periodic intervals no greater than one hour in between runs in each direction and to all destinations within service areas; and, be it further

 

RESOLVED, that UCAT shall operationalize its plan by July 1, 2024,

 

and move its adoption.
