Legislature Seeks Applicants to Serve on the Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency Board of Directors

KINGSTON, NY— Legislative Chair Tracey Bartels announced today that the Ulster County Legislature is actively seeking two qualified individuals to join the Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency (UCRRA) Board of Directors. These volunteer positions offer an excellent opportunity for dedicated individuals to contribute to the community and make a positive impact on the county's waste management efforts.

Interested candidates are invited to submit their applications promptly to be considered for these important board positions. Applications may be reviewed by the County Legislature on a rolling basis, so early submissions are encouraged to ensure full consideration. No applications will be a considered after Friday, June 16, at 5:00 pm.

Elected officials are ineligible to serve on the UCRRA Board of Directors.

The newly appointed board members will serve terms that expire on December 31, 2023, and December 31, 2024, respectively. It is important to note that all UCRRA members serve on a voluntary basis, without compensation, and hold office until their successors are appointed and qualify.

Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency (UCRRA) 

The UCRRA is a public benefit corporation formed for the purpose of developing, financing, and implementing a comprehensive countywide materials management program. The Agency manages solid waste consistent with the policies outlined in the New York State Solid Waste Management Plan, entitled “Sustainable Materials Management Strategy for New York State – Beyond Waste,” and Ulster County’s Local Solid Waste Management Plan

The Agency is responsible for compliance with State and Federal laws, rules and regulations regarding the management and long-term obligations of closed solid waste management facilities and currently operating facilities under its direct control. The Agency’s responsibilities also include education and public outreach efforts to encourage, support, and foster participation by the public with respect to reducing, reusing, recycling, and composting portions of the existing solid waste stream.
