NOTICE of 30-day Period for Public Review of an Agricultural District
Pursuant to the Eight-Year Review of a New York State
Certified Agricultural District
Ulster County Agricultural District No. 1
Towns of Esopus, Lloyd, Marlborough, New Paltz and Plattekill
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, that Agricultural District No. 1, in the Towns of Esopus, Lloyd, Marlborough, New Paltz and Plattekill was established on February 18, 1973, pursuant to Agriculture and Markets Law. The district includes around 15,200 acres.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that under Section 303-a of the Agricultural and Markets Law, the County Legislature is required to review this district eight (8) years after its creation and every eight (8) years thereafter.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that during this thirty (30) day period, municipalities and landowners within the district may propose modification of the district by filing such proposal with the Clerk of the Legislature within thirty (30) days after the publication of the notice. Such 30-day period shall begin on December 18, 2020 and terminate on January 16, 2021.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that a map of the district may be downloaded from the County Planning Department’s website at http://ulstercountyny.gov/agricultural_district_1_review. The Map has been filed with the Clerk of the Legislature and the County Planning Department, however, due to COVID-19 restrictions, these maps are not available for public inspection. A copy of the map will be mailed or emailed upon request using the contact information below.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that the Ulster County Agricultural Farmland Protection Board has been directed to prepare a report as required by Article 25-AA of the Agriculture and Markets Law. Thereafter, a public hearing on the District will be held by the County Legislature that will provide opportunity for comments including those on any proposed modification and the recommendations of said board.
